Fazlur Khan documentary receives a grant from the Graham Foundation in Chicago

We are over the moon to be one of the grantees for the 2022 Graham Foundation grants to individuals. Director Laila Kazmi received a grant for the feature documentary in production Reaching New Heights: Fazlur Rahman Khan and the Skyscraper. Founded in 1956, the Graham Foundation is dedicated to fostering the development and exchange of diverse and challenging projects about architecture and its role in the arts, culture, and society.

Said director Laila Kazmi: “It is an honor to be a recipient of the 2022 Graham Foundation grant. It further validates our years of research on this labor of love documentary project. Dr Fazlur Khan’s story is part of the Asian-American legacy. We are grateful for the support of Graham Foundation in helping us bring this untold story to the big screen.”

According to the Graham Foundation, the 2022 projects were selected from nearly 500 submissions. “The new grantees join a worldwide network of individuals and organizations that the Graham Foundation has supported over the past 65 years.“

In sharing the news of the grant, Graham Foundation director Sarah Herda said:On behalf of the Graham Foundation staff and board of directors, we congratulate you on your award. We are excited to work with you, and for the impact your project is sure to have.”
